Each of these slim volumes discusses land, climate, religion, culture, lifestyles, history, and the countrys place in current events today. The books also link readers to a collection of Web sites providing documents, photographs, illustrations, and much additional information. Some of the sites are from the Middle East and are available in English and Arabic versions. The topics are complex and much of the vocabulary will be challenging for readers. The history of each country is long and quite involved. The authors present differing views of the current state of affairs in each country in a straightforward, nonjudgmental way. These books are up-to-date, but it is questionable how long some of the information will remain accurate. The publisher promises to maintain updated Web site information for at least five years from publication., School Library Journal December 2006
