Resolving Conflicts
Conflicts are clashes, disagreements, between individuals, members of a group, or nations. Negative conflicts can be destructive, but conflicts that are managed well can have positive outcomes. Author Karen Judson describes different kinds of conflicts and how they can be resolved, with a special focus on teens and building their conflict-resolution skills and understanding.

A well-researched overview of the elements that comprise conflicts, with scenarios that offer practical suggestions for resolving them. Each of the seven chapters has a clear focus, which makes the book ideal for reports. It will also be useful to student peer mediators. Though it primarily focuses on interpersonal conflict, it includes interesting historical examples of peaceful conflict resolutions. One chapter deals with bullying. Pages of straight text without graphic support will be burdensome for reluctant readers, but full-color photos appear regularly enough to break up the text for most students., School Library Journal May 2006
