Orson Scott Card
Orson Scott Card is among the most popular writers of fiction today. Starting out in the science fiction genre and later fantasy, he is best known for Ender's Game, one of the most popular sci-fi novels ever published. Ender's Game, along with its sequel, Speaker for the Dead, both earned Hugo and Nebula awards, making Card the first author to ever win both prizes in consecutive years. More recently, Card has branched out into contemporary fiction and even comic books. Give your readers an inspirational biography of this tremendous talent.

This solid and well-researched biography does an able job of balancing information on the subject's numerous publications with the events in his personal life. A great deal is included about the importance of Mormonism in Card's life and work, although sometimes the level of detail included about the religion and about the publishing industry assumes an understanding of those topics not present in most adolescents. Card's Enders Game is popular with teens, and this book will help them to understand how he came to create the "Enderverse.", School Library Journal January 2007
