Judy Blume

Welcome to Judy Blume's world, where no topic is off limits. Best known for her frank and funny take on adolescence, Blume is regarded as a pioneer in making it "okay" for teens to discuss their bodies and fears. For almost forty years, Blume's work has connected with young readers and adults. Her books have also achieved notoriety as the target of repeated censorship, Blume is one of the American Library Association's "most challenged authors." To date, her books have sold more than 75 million copies and received close to 100 awards.

Authors Teens Love series. Blume's pioneering spirit and unwillingness to bow to censorship stand out in this lightweight chronicle of her life and writing. The main text is interspersed with many quotes from previous interviews, books, and websites. A few photographs of Blume and some other stock photos are included. The cartoonish cover is not likely to attract the series' target teen audience. Reading list, timeline, websites. Glos., ind., The Horn Book Guide Spring 2009
