Celebrating First Lady Michelle Obama in Pictures

The great-granddaughter of a slave, Michelle Obama made history when she became the first African-American first lady of the United States. She is a hardworking wife, mother, Harvard graduate, and community volunteer who brings grace and style to a new era in the White House. From her childhood in Chicago to her days in the White House, this photo-biography celebrates the events in Michelle Obama's life during her journey into history. Kids will also enjoy some fun photographs of Michelle riding a bike with her daughter and doing the hula hoop.

Obama Family Photo Album series. Given the small amount of content and the duplication of information among volumes in this series, one book might have been better than four to tell the Obamas' story. The texts provide facts and dates as captions to the many photographs, which include some effective candid shots. There is little linearity, and shifts in verb tense make the narration awkward.
