The first page of text is a simple explanation of what the tundra is and presents the theme of the book, Baby animals have special ways to stay safe and live in the tundra. The Arctic fox, musk ox, caribou, polar bear and more are then each presented on a two-page spread. One page of each chapter is a full-page photograph of the animal with its name in bold type. The other page is four or five simple facts about this animal and something that makes it safe. Their fur is brown like the grass is one example.
