This bilingual series' focus lies squarely on the responsibilities involved in pet ownership. Each title provides a brief introduction to a specific animal, followed by additional details, such as its diet, grooming and exercise needs, and other relevant information. Full color photographs display the animal involved in a number of activities, such as getting a checkup at the vet's office, eating its favorite foods, playing, being groomed, and interacting with children. A bilingual index and glossary, as well as a list of helpful websites for further research are provided at the end of each book. Published in conjunction with the American Humane Association, this informative series will be a wonderful addition to school libraries and serve well for bilingual thematic units on animals. Any of its individual titles would also make a wonderful gift for a child getting his or her first pet. [Please note that while Criticas only had four titles available for review, the complete series is made up of six in all, including My First Guinea Pig and Other Small Pets/Mi primers mascots pequena and My First Bird/Mi primer pajarito.-Ed.], Crticas September 15, 2008
