Everything is matter. There are three forms of matter: solids, liquids and gases. All matter has different densities and weights. Matter can change when you change its temperature. Matter is made up of atoms and molecules with tight bonds. The molecules all move differently based on if they are part of a solid, a liquid or a gas. Water is matter that is very important to all living things in each of its possible forms. The table of contents of this nonfiction text gives a great idea of all the topics discussed. The topics are discussed gradually and meaningfully. Ideas are related to the readers life, and the photographs and illustrations are good representations of each topic discussed. The backgrounds on each page are beautiful photographs that help the reader focus on the information. The backmatter includes a few words to know as well as a list of other books and websites on the topic. The index, like the rest of the text, is very easy to read and does not overwhelm the reader.
