Easy Genius Science Projects with Electricity and Magnetism

Spark reader interest in science by learning about electricity and magnetism. They will build an electromagnet, learn how circuits work, and more. Using the ideas and experiments presented in this book, students can come up with their own ideas for successful science fair projects.

The world of electricity and magnetism is a fascinating one, but it can also be confusing. Seeing how things work makes learning both easier and fun. The first chapter is devoted to early electrical experiments, with instructions on how to recreate William Gilbert and Ben Franklins experiments with static electricity (among others). The second chapter explores magnetism, which always offers some easy and thought-provoking experiments. Chapter three is a little more advanced, with experiments in electricity, including how to build simple circuits. Chapter fours experiments help the young scientist explore the link between electricity and magnetism. Chapter five turns to more practical applications, such as how to build simple electric motors. Gardner is careful to caution the reader about when they should ask an adult for help at various, potentially dangerous steps in the experiments. The experiments are clearly explained and illustrated and include simple demonstrations for the second grade science report, as wells as experiments for the high school advanced science fair. All school libraries should include this excellent resource from the Easy Genius Science Projects series., Children's Literature
