The Federal Government

Age Level: 11–up  Grade Level: 6–up

Delegates met in Philadelphia at the Constitutional Convention in 1787 in order to form a stronger federal government for the United States of America. They wrote the U.S. Constitution and created three branches of government: the legislative, executive, and judicial. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT series examines the checks and balances between each of these branches, in addition to how the actions taken by each branch and other government agencies affect United States citizens today. Independent Government Agencies, such as NASA, and security agencies, such as the CIA, are featured as well.
